“Party with Technology”

The 2008 United Telephone Essay Contest

For the 2008 United Essay Contest we asked students to tell us in their own words how technology could bring life to the party on the ONE day of the year they could call their own.  Would they have karaoke? A video booth for people to record their birthday party wishes? Robots dancing to the music? Maybe an Internet web broadcast, with a link included in a pre-birthday invitation e-mail?  Students were asked to pretend that they were inventors and tell us about what kind of technology they would invent today and how it would be used 20 years in the future.

United Telephone Company awarded money to the top three essay winners in each school.  First place winners received $100, second place winners received $50 and third place winners received $25.
